Automatic Strokers Tested: Thrust + Rotation Models

Automatic strokers motorise what manual masturbators don't: the stroke itself. The models in this test class add rotation to the thrusting motion, and in Australia they sell for roughly A$110–160. This page publishes our full test framework — how we measure, what we score, and the buying criteria you can check yourself right now.

Status: full results pending hands-on testing. Our review unit in this class has been selected but has not arrived yet. Every result in the scorecard below is therefore marked [TEST DATA - pending sample], and each measurement will replace its placeholder as testing is completed. We publish the framework first so you can see exactly what the scores will mean — and so we can't quietly move the goalposts afterwards.

The short version: Until measured results land, buy on the specs you can verify today: a fully removable, washable sleeve; adjustable stroke length; USB rechargeable; and a retailer with a real returns policy for faulty units.

Our test method

Noise. Sound meter at 30 cm in a quiet room, readings at the lowest and highest speed settings, with the toy running unloaded and under normal use conditions. Motorised strokers are generally the loudest category of male toy, which is exactly why we measure rather than repeat manufacturer claims.

Thrust. Stroke length measured in millimetres at each setting; number of distinct speed steps counted; we note whether speed changes are smooth or stepped, and whether the mechanism maintains stroke length across the full speed range.

Rotation. Direction options (one-way vs reversing), whether rotation and thrust can be controlled independently, and whether combined modes are usable or a novelty.

Battery. Continuous runtime at a mid-range setting from full charge to cut-off, timed. Charge time measured as well.

Cleaning. Time to remove, wash and fully dry the sleeve; whether the sleeve removes completely or is cleaned in place; whether replacement sleeves are sold and at what price.

Scorecard

Scored on the same five-point framework used across this site. Results will be filled in per model as testing completes.

The dimensions in detail

Thrust mechanism

Adjustable stroke length matters more than top speed — it changes the sensation rather than just intensifying it. In testing we record the usable range, not the advertised one. [TEST DATA - pending sample]

Rotation

Rotation is the feature that justifies this class over cheaper thrust-only models, so it gets its own scrutiny: does it reverse, does it run independently of thrust, and does it survive in combined modes at higher speeds? [TEST DATA - pending sample]

Sleeve and material

Texture "feel" is subjective, so we don't score it. What we record is factual: the sleeve material the manufacturer states, whether the sleeve is closed or open-ended, and the price and availability of replacements — a stroker whose sleeve can't be replaced is a product with a built-in expiry date.

Noise

Placeholder until measured. If you live in a share house, treat this as the deciding spec and wait for the numbers rather than trusting any product page — ours included. [TEST DATA - pending sample]

Cleaning and drying

The ownership decider for this whole category. A sleeve that removes fully, washes under a tap and dries overnight will get used; a fixed sleeve that needs swabbing will quietly retire to a drawer. We time the full routine. [TEST DATA - pending sample]

Battery and charging

Timed results pending. Checkable today: USB charging (ideally USB-C), and whether the toy operates while plugged in — a genuinely useful fallback that spec sheets usually do state. [TEST DATA - pending sample]

The models in this test class

Thrust + rotation, app optional (A$110–130). Our primary test unit's class and the volume seller of the category. Everything in the scorecard above applies to this class first.

[Check price]

Thrust-only automatics (A$90–120). Simpler mechanism, lower price, fewer failure points. Included as the control group: if rotation doesn't earn its premium in testing, this class is where the value is.

[Check price]

Premium interactive / video-sync models (A$180–260). Larger devices built around content synchronisation. Tested on the same scorecard, plus sync accuracy, which we'll assess once the units are in hand. [TEST DATA - pending sample]

Check price

Before you buy any of them

Hygiene products usually can't be returned once opened if you simply change your mind — but Australian consumer law still covers faulty units, so buy from a retailer whose warranty process exists on paper. Check the replacement sleeve price before purchase, not after. And confirm the stated waterproof rating matches how the manual tells you to wash it; a mismatch between the two is a reliable sign of a careless manufacturer.

FAQ

Why publish the page before results? Because the framework and the checkable specs are useful now, and the scores follow the samples. Anything not yet measured is marked, not guessed.

Are automatic strokers loud? They're motorised, so expect them to be the loudest toys we test. Our measured figures will replace this sentence.

How long do sleeves last? With washing after every use and full drying, a quality TPE sleeve typically lasts months of regular use; replacement cost is part of the real price, which is why we record it.
